I was born with a certain body shape. I&#8217;m not overweight but there is no way I can contort myself into the lotus position.<\/p>\n<p>What&#8217;s the point anyway? Even if I could get there, I&#8217;d be so uncomfortable and in so much pain it would make it an effort to meditate. And, we all know that &#8220;effort&#8221; and &#8220;mindfulness&#8221; don&#8217;t go hand-in-hand. The lotus position has a place in the practice of yoga and body-mind health.<\/p>\n<p>The truth is that there is no point to it for mindfulness meditation. You don&#8217;t need gongs either. All you need is yourself and a reasonably quiet and comfortable spot &#8211; whatever works for you.
